- As the centerpiece of the kids table, you can provide bowls of goldfish or beta fish to entertain the kids. Each fish will need its own small bowl. The kids can name the fish and feed them during the reception. At the end of the evening, the kids can take them home as pets.
- For younger children who will need an activity to keep them busy, you can provide coloring books and crayons, colored pencils and markers. Each child can receive their own coloring book, which they can keep at the end of the night. Or, if the kids are well acquainted with each other, you can provide an oversized coloring book that they can have fun coloring together with their friends, cousins and other relatives attending the reception.
- You can purchase different sized glass jars and fill each with a different type of candy. These candies can range from the sugary variety to the chocolaty variety. You can then provide each child with a small bag and allow the children to fill their bags for a take-home treat. You can also have the adults help the kids fill the candy bags to ensure they do not consume too much of it right on the spot.
- For an outdoor wedding in the spring or summer, you can provide toys the kids can play with if they are not interested in the adult reception. Soft footballs, soccer balls, flying discs and bubble packages can entertain the kids out on the lawn while the adults dance the night away. If the kids are going to play, then it might be wise to have them change into casual clothes for the remainder of the day. Just be sure all of the family photos have already been snapped.
