• Shampoo is one of the biggest nightclubs in Northeast Philly, divided into several rooms over 2 stories. Notable sections include the "Groove Garden," an outdoor tented area with a hot tub, and the stylish "Velvet Underground Lounge." Numerous dancefloors and lounge areas are serviced by a total of eight bars. Contemporary dance, techno, house, and hip-hop are the norm, while themed-nights offer variations such as a Goth-oriented Wednesday night and an extremely popular Gay dance party on Friday nights, "Shaft Fridays."

Transit Nightclub

• Located in a building that was once a bank, Transit is a spacious, three-level club with a total of six bars and three dancefloors. DJ's spin a mix of dance music, with a different DJ on each floor for a variety of sounds throughout the night. Some nights are more mixed while others are decidedly themed, such as goth nights or all-night raves where the party continues well after the city's average closing time. The building's former vault has been converted into a billiards room, and a mezzanine level houses the VIP lounges.

Fluid Nightclub

• In a dark setting with thumping, state-of-the-art sound, some of the best local and international DJ's as well as live acts perform at Fluid nightclub. Musical styles are very diverse, including various electronic styles such as techno, jungle, trance, and house, as well as folk, punk-rock, hip-hop, and rock. Although you will inevitably hear some Top 40 hits, his is a club that focuses heavily on underground and original DJ music. Guest performers have included DJ Jazzy Jeff, Slum Village, Thievery Corporation, and JoJo Flores. Hip-hop has a strong place in this club where legendary drummer ?uestlove acts as a resident DJ while he is not on tour with The Roots.
