Article marketing is one of the most effective means of promoting your products and services.
There is no question about this simply because content is what makes the Internet go round.
Submitting articles to article directories such as Ezine Articles is a great way to get exposure for your business.
But so many people ask me why their articles have to be so long when most directories don't require a minimum article length or one that is quite short.
Well, I'm about to give you the answer to that.
After you've read it, you'll never write a short article again.
Trust me on this.
The art of article writing is similar to the art of copywriting.
Have you ever noticed that sales letters are quite long.
Did you ever wonder why? Well, think about what the sales letter is trying to do.
It's trying to get the prospect who is reading it to part with his hard earned cash.
The more cash you're trying to get him to part with, the harder it's going to be.
Therefore, you need to give him a good reason to do so.
Giving him that good reason is going to take time, or a long sales letter.
The same thing is true with article marketing.
While it is true that the basic intent of an article is to educate the prospect, ultimately, we hope that he will be impressed enough by our knowledge of the subject to check out our various products and services that relate to the subject.
If we don't provide him with enough information in that article, how can he arrive at any informed decision about us? He has little to go on other than just a few words.
But, if we provide him with a good explanation on the topic, it instills more confidence in him as to our knowledge and expertise.
So, what's a good length for an informative article? Well, it depends on how much you have to say in order to get the point across.
However, most articles that are between 350 and 500 words usually do the trick nicely.
Some subjects may take a little longer.
The point is, you want to provide as much info as you can so that the prospect feels that his experience in reading your article was not wasted.
The trick is not to give him too much information so that he has no reason to purchase your products or services.
Article marketing is tricky.
It takes a lot of practice to get it just right.
But if you work at it and use it regularly, you'll be surprised at how effective it can be in making sales.
