Probiotics From Soy Yogurt As a Solution to Irritable Bowel Syndrome

There is a diagnosis called the Irritable bowel syndrome.
This syndrome, usually called IBS or spastic colon, is simply a bowel disease.
This means that there is nothing wrong with the body, physically speaking; the problem is in the digestive processes.
This is characterized by abdominal pain, bloating, changes in bowel habits and discomfort without any obvious organic cause.
These symptoms may be relieved by bowel movements.
Most physicians attribute IBS to stress, diarrhea, constipation, or a start of one's maturity.
IBS does not lead to more chronic health conditions.
It may, on the other hand, be a source of fatigue, severe pain, and other symptoms.
It can even increase one's hospital bill and other medical expenses.
Some researches have indicated that IBS is a chronic illness and can interfere with the quality of life of the sick person.
Sadly, there is really no cure for IBS.
However, there are treatments that try to relieve the symptoms, like medications and even psychological interventions.
But most medical experts still say that the best treatment for IBS is diet.
Probiotics, on the other hand, are bacteria that aid in digestion.
In fact, they are even called "the friendly bacteria".
They are a substance that contains live microorganisms which are believed to be beneficial to both humans and animals.
They reduce gas that causes bloating and cramping.
They also aid in developing regular bowel movements.
They occur naturally in the body, yet their amount may be low because of yeast and other bodily bacteria that contend for the nutrients in the body.
Luckily, probiotics may be boosted through the healing powers of diet and supplementing foods such as soy yogurt.
If the amount of probiotics in the body is increased, the severity of IBS symptoms is reduced.
We learn in our elementary science that the digestive system is full of enzymes and bacteria that help the digestion process.
These enzymes and bacteria are either innately present in the digestive system or are just produced during the break down of foods.
There are times that the body runs out of probiotics.
This, unfortunately, can result to digestive problems like yeast infection.
It sometimes happens when a person takes antibiotics which kill both good and bad bacteria.
What can soy yogurt do then? Soy yogurt is a rich source of probiotics.
It contains both types of bacteria which assist in the digestion process: Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus.
Eating just a serving or two of soy yogurt a day is enough to give significant amounts of bacteria for people with IBS.
Continuing eating soy yogurt within a week will produce dramatic changes in the IBS symptoms.
One can begin eating just one serving of soy yogurt for several days.
After a while, adjust the serving by increasing it.
Starting with two a day may only increase the symptoms since the body copes with the upturn of probiotics in the body.
Soy yogurt is also good for the lactose intolerant people who are also suffering from IBS.
They do not need to eat dairy products anymore in order to increase their probiotics level.
It is also discovered that soy yogurt is a good supplement to prevent ulcer.
