- 1). Clean the swirled area with your regular car cleaning soap and a rag to remove dirt, dust, gravel or other debris. Rinse well with warm water to remove residual soap.
- 2). Use a professional polishing mitt or polish applicator, available from automotive retail stores. Do not polish with any regular rag, towel or sponge, as these will create more swirls or other damage to your car's paint.
- 3). Apply car polish directly to the swirled area. Buff the polish onto your car in small, circular motions with the polishing mitt or cloth. Buff until you can see a steady haze growing on the surface.
- 4). Wipe away the polishing haze with a clean terry cloth. Proper polishing will reduce or remove the look of swirl marks in your black paint.
