    Hair-Washing Techniques

    • Shampoo the hair only once to twice per week. The hair produces natural oils that moisturize the hair and scalp, protecting hair from breakage and overdrying. By shampooing too often, oils are stripped from the hair, which causes drying and breakage that can lead to split ends and weak hair follicles. When washing the hair, rinse with cool water, as this will lock hair tips into place, preventing split ends and hair damage that comes from styling.

    Massage and Coconut Oil

    • Scalp massage is also important to keep hair thick and strong. By massaging, blood flow to the scap increases, creating better circulation, and faster hair growth. Massage the scalp for 15 to 20 minutes each day. Massage rapidly, working in small, quick circular motions. The scalp should begin to feel warm from the friction. As an added effect, massage using coconut oil, which nourishes hair follicles and promotes hair growth. Pour 3 tsp. of coconut oil into the palms of your hands, then massage as directed above.

    Eggs

    • Eggs also prevent hair from thinning. They are very high in protein, and also give the hair a gloss and shine that will remain until your next shampoo. Before washing the hair, simply crack an egg open right onto the top of the hair, massage through the hair, and let sit for five minutes. Rinse the egg out with cold water, and style as usual.
