- 1). Wash your armpits daily using antibacterial soap and warm water. Scrub your underarms with a washcloth to reduce bacteria buildup. Dry your armpits with a clean towel.
- 2). Fill a glass with 8 ounces of water. Mix 1 tsp. of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide into the water. Dip a washcloth into the solution and apply it to your armpits. Hydrogen peroxide helps kill underarm bacteria. Apply this solution to unbroken skin; avoid applying it after shaving your underarms. Use more hydrogen peroxide if this treatment is ineffective.
- 3). Avoid eating spicy foods such as onions, garlic and curry. According to WebMD, these can trigger smelly armpit odor.
- 4). Take 30 mg of zinc daily. According to Health911, zinc reduces body odors dramatically. In addition to supplements, lima beans, chickpeas, and organic beef and turkey are good sources of zinc.
