Transform your boring desk into an interesting workspace with a few simple design ideas. The key to designing your desk is to keep it functional yet stylish. The key to decorating your desk is to choose the right accessories as well as thinking of different ways to add a splash of color in the space around you. Decorate your desk and the space around it and you might look forward to working every day. - The first step in decorating a desk is to choose items that you can use for organization. A desk in a home office may have provisions on the side of your desk for wicker baskets lined with fabric where you can keep miscellaneous items. Paper trays also come in different colors and can be used in your design. Stylish desk organizers such as leather or mesh pencil holders and memo pad holders and even leather mouse pads can add a little flair to your desk. You may also want to add a wall-mounted magazine rack beside your desk for storing not just magazines, but papers as well.
- Add accessories to the walls surrounding your desk such as a framed cork board or dry-erase board. If the space allows, you can also hang small storage cubes or a shelf on the wall for books and other items. If you work in a cubicle, you can be really stylish by decorating your cubicle with colorful or printed paper. For a desk in your home, place a nice table lamp on your desk and for your home or office desk, add a little life by placing a small potted plant on your desk.
- To add a little life to your desk in your home, choose a chair that's upholstered in a bright color or printed fabric. Place a nice area rug underneath your desk -- it can match the upholstered chair or be a simpler one made of natural fiber or cotton. If you have windows by your desk, choose a bright fabric to liven it up, and if possible, match it to the color of your rug or upholstered chair. Additionally, if your desk faces a wall, you may want to frame prints of your choice and hang them on this wall.
