- 1). Create a short one, or two, sentence description of your concept.
- 2). Block out the plot for a few episodes. Write down who the protagonist is, his or her goals, and anyone or anything that will be getting in the way of those goals.
- 3). Write the script for the first episode. The episode will be the panels you post on your blog. An episode could be as short as two panels, or an entire page of artwork.
- 4). Write the dialog for each panel on a separate line. Next to each panel's dialog, write a description of the visuals for that panel.
- 1). Draw the basic shapes for each panel. These drawings can use stick figures.
- 2). Write the dialog into the panel sketch. Try different placements for it.
- 3). Draw a variety of compositions, and pick the ones that work best at telling the story.
- 1). Enlist a friend to pose for your panels.
- 2). Gather together the props you need.
- 3). Pose the actor and props to match your storyboard. Take one photograph per storyboard panel.
- 4). Load the images into your computer. If they are prints, scan them in.
- 1). Open the photographs in the digital editing program of your choice.
- 2). Type in the dialog, and draw in the speech bubbles behind the text.
- 3). Draw the characters and props in a layer above the photograph. Simplify the details and colors.
- 4). Exaggerate the eyes and mouth to give it that manga look.
- 5). Save each file as jpg, and bring them all into a new file that will be your first manga episode.
- 6). Put a one or two pixel black outline around each imported image to make the edges of the panels.
- 7). Save the new file as a jpg.
- 1). Start a blog for your manga style Web comic. Blogger, Livejournal, Wordpress all offer blogging for free.
- 2). Decide on your posting schedule. It doesn't have to be every day. It might make more sense to aim for three times a week, or even just once a week, especially while starting out. Whatever schedule you pick, make sure to keep it, especially while establishing your readership.
- 3). Upload and post your image on your blog. You might consider including a brief introduction to your new comic.
