Wood that has been used in furniture, patios and decks need to be preserved or it will decay and rot. This is why wood preservers are popular and widely used by many people domestically and commercially. Wood preservers extend the life of the wood and the same time makes them more durable. It is important that you protect the wood from pests such as fungus, insects and so on otherwise they will damage the wood from within and slowly ruin the beauty and shape of the furniture, decks and patios. Maintenance is required regularly to ensure that your property is kept in good shape for a long time.
About Cuprinol Wood Preserver
Cuprinol is a company that have gained expertise in wood care products for over 75 years. They have many different products for every job to ensure that your wood looks great and lasts longer. They have products that protect your wood from decay, rot and water and at the same time will nourish your wood by adding a beautiful colour.
Cuprinol Wood Preserver protects your wood furniture, patio and decks against rot and decay. It has an active formula that deeply penetrates into the wood to ensure that your things are protected from within. Other than protection it also adds a rich colour that lasts up to at least 5 years.
Before Applying Wood Preserver
Depending on the area that you want to cover, you need to make sure you buy enough wood preservers. Cuprinol is available in 1 litre to 4 litre cans. The 1 litre covers roughly 6 meter square surface if you coat it at least 2 to 3 times. Whereas the 4 litre can covers 24 metres square.
Before opening the can it is important that you read the health, safety and environmental information that are on the label at the back of the can. This is because all wood preservers contain chemicals and can be hazardous if not used with care. If you are using wood that has already been varnished, painted or stained you will need to make sure you strip it back to bare wood otherwise the preserver will not penetrate into the wood. You will also need to make sure that the surface is clean from any insects, algae or dirt, so remember to wash and completely dry the wood before using the preserver.
How to Use Cuprinol
When using the wood preserver, you will need to shake the tin thoroughly, to ensure that all the ingredients are mixed together to produce a uniform colour when applying. You will need to apply around 2 to 3 coats with a brush, to ensure that the wood is protected properly. Before applying more coats, you have to make sure that the coat before it has completely soaked in and dried, otherwise you will end up with a shiny wet surface as the wood will not be able to absorb more than one coat properly. It will take roughly 3 to 5 days for the wood to dry, until then it is best not to use it.
While it is drying, you will need to protect it from leaves, water and varying temperatures that can affect the drying process. Even though the drying time is roughly 3 to 5 days, it can vary depending on the weather conditions and the nature of the surface you are coating. Once it has dried, you will need to wipe some of the excess product that was not absorbed with a brush cleaner.
So if you want to protect your wood furniture, patios and decks, it is advised that you get hold of Cuprinol wood preserver, which can be easily found in homeware stores near you or on the internet. It is important that you regularly maintain your things with wood preserves and Osmo Polyx oil to keep it looking beautiful for years to come.
