Chocolate Brown & Blue Walls Ideas

    Stripes

    • Choose two colors that work well together to create a striped effect on one or more walls in a room. Stripes can be narrow or thick, and run vertically or horizontally. Use a level to be sure your stripes are even, and then tape with painter's tape to make the stripes clean and even. Allow your base coat to dry for at least 24 hours before adding stripes for best results.

    Wallpaper

    • Choose a wall covering from a huge selection of chocolate brown and blue patterned wallpapers. Manufacturers carry everything from all-over florals, faux-stenciled motifs and basic stripes featuring this modern color combination. Purchase extra paper if needed to match motifs, or to cover the back or sides of furniture to match the room. Wallpaper installation is a relatively simple DIY project that will give your room a quick chocolate brown and blue makeover.

    Accent Walls

    • An accent wall is a single wall in a room or area of your home that is painted in a different shade from the rest. If you use chocolate brown on three walls, then to create an accent wall, you would use blue on the fourth wall in the room. This technique draws attention to the wall and is useful for focusing attention on artwork or other items you wish to display. This technique can also be used to draw attention away from a room's design flaws; simply paint the areas you want to downplay all one color, and use a second shade for the wall you want to draw attention to.

    Considerations

    • Decide if blue or brown will be the primary color in the room, and choose accents and wall patterns accordingly. If you are painting, start with the blue, since brown will easily cover a blue base coat without additional priming. If you start with brown and try to paint light blue over it, you'll need to prime first, or use multiple coats of paint, increasing both your time and project cost.

Add silver accents to your walls for an extra added zing.
