Make sure your Wedding Speakers make you proud!

Most young girls dream of their wedding day - I know I certainly did. We dream of the perfect man, the stylish wedding and an unforgettable celebration!

As you prepare for your wedding, you will make many decisions that add to the celebration of your big day. It is unlikely that you would allow someone else to plan your decor or your dress without your input. So why would you not give careful thought to the preparation of your Wedding Speakers? Don't let your wedding speakers prepare without your guidance!

I have attended weddings where the wedding speakers mock the institution of marriage. They think it appropriate to lament the fact that the groom is about to lose his freedom. I shudder to think how the bride felt - I know I was cringing with embarassment at that moment. That Weddiing Speaker did not understand his job! Ā I have heard stories of Best Men who have mentioned past girlfriends of the groom and nights of drunken behaviour. If you would rather avoid this type of speech at your wedding, I would suggest that you take action now.

Wedding Speeches, correctly delivered, can become the highlight of any wedding. A good wedding speech comes from the heart, is sincere and full of love. Memorable wedding speeches are filled with humour and anecdotes. This may sound like a tall order for a wedding speaker, but I assure you it is within the reach of any wedding speaker.

Here are 3 Tips to help you prepare your Wedding Speakers:

1. Brief your Wedding Speakers well in advance. Tell them how long to speak for. Let them know that you want their speech to be tasteful. Often there are three generations of people at a wedding. Humour needs to cross age boundaries. Granny needs to be amused as well! If they don't know where to start, point them in the right direction. It is stressful for many people to speak at a wedding. Often they are not skilled at public speaking. They need the right advice and encouragement. They want to be able to speak with confidence and deliver a speech they will be proud of.

2. Let them know your expectations. A Wedding Speaker needs to know your expectations. What kind of humour is acceptable? Who needs to be thanked? Are there any no-go zones? This is especially important when you are part of a blended family. The more guidance you give them, the easier it will be for them to prepare. Draw up a list of who wioll be speaking at your wedding. Who speaks first? Will you appoint a Master of Ceremonies? Who will introduce the speaker?

3. Plan your timing. A Wedding Speaker who talks 20 minutes longer than scheduled, could result in your appetisers looking and tasting horrible! Two speakers who go over time could cut down your dancing time quite considerably. The celebrations only get underway once the speeches are over. A good wedding speech is not too long. Too many speeches at a wedding can also detract from your celebration.

With a little bit of forethought, you can avoid a Wedding Speaker speaking for 45 minutes, another offending the bride and her family, or someone detracting from your happy day.
