- 1). Unplug the electrical cord of the Kenmore washer from the electrical outlet and turn off the water supply at the valves behind the washer.
- 2). Remove the screws on the ends of the control console at the back of the washer with a screwdriver.
- 3). Tilt the control console back so that it rests on the back hinges and locate the electrical switch on the backside of the top lid of the washer.
- 4). Unplug the electrical switch on the top lid, pulling it out by hand. Locate the metal clips on the top of the dryer that sit underneath the control console.
- 5). Slide a screwdriver underneath the clips on top of the washer and lift up to dislodge the clips.
- 6). Pull the top lid off the washer cabinet, setting it out of the way. Locate the motor and shaft at the bottom of the cabinet.
- 7). Slide the two clips off of each side of the pump with a screwdriver.
- 8). Slide the pump off the motor shaft, leaving the hoses attached to the pump. Locate the motor harness plug attached to the motor.
- 9). Remove the motor harness plug from the motor, unplugging it by hand, and unfasten the two clips that hold the motor in place with a screwdriver.

Tip the motor back in order to access the motor shaft. Use a screwdriver to lift the old plastic coupler from off the motor. - 11
Turn the pump over and locate the white plastic coupler, prying the old coupler off with a screwdriver. - 12
Slide a white plastic coupler over the motor shaft with the prongs facing away from the motor. Place the new black rubber coupler over the new plastic coupler. - 13
Position another new white plastic coupler over the black rubber coupler with the prongs facing in toward the rubber coupler. Slide the clips back over the motor. - 14
Place the pump back onto the motor shaft and slide the pump down against the couplers, securing the clips over the pump. - 15
Reattach the motor harness plug into the motor and place the washer top back over the cabinet base. - 16
Plug the top lid switch into the back of the lid and flip the metal clips down on the back of the top lid to lock it into place. - 17
Flip the control console back down over the top lid and secure the console with screws on each end. - 18
Turn the water supply back on at the valves on the wall behind the washer and plug the Kenmore washer back into the electrical outlet.
