Internet Marketing - How To Write Good Content For Traffic

Writing good content is essential for every internet marketing campaign. Here I take you through the basics of writing good content for traffic generation.

Every powerful internet marketing campaign relies on well written content to bring in traffic. Here I'm going to share with you the techniques and methods that I use to bring traffic to my websites through content, so that you can do the same.

Define your goal.

Every piece of content that you write should have a purpose. What is the goal of what you are writing? Are you looking to bring more traffic to your site or are you looking to inform your readers. Good content will usually do both of these at once and will engage the readers.

Don't waste time.

This means that you will need to try to get it right first time around. This of course comes with practice. Think of newspaper journalists who are working to tight deadlines, they don't have time to dip in and out of their articles preening them for perfection. Remember the 80-20 rule. Get your article good enough to go and don't spend time on perfection. If you do 'perfection' on every article, you won't get much done at all.

Set goals.

Make your goals realistic and achievable, but without targets you're going to start drifting. Set goals for yourself with your content writing so that you are pumping out x amount per week for your internet marketing efforts.

Give a taster.

A good example of this is Twitter. Just 140 characters to get your message across. This forces a short succinct soundbite. Don't give them all the detail - most people are overwhelmed with information every day. Use bullets and bold to provide easy to read content that can be scanned online.

Share your opinion.

People need trust in order to buy. Without sharing your opinion, you won't be able to allow your readers into your world. In order to buy on the internet, people need to feel that they know the seller. By adding some of your personality to the mix, this is going to give them what they need to build a relationship with you. Internet marketing is all about the relationship and the connection.

Show your authority.

Give your readers an inside view, this might involve some of your highly guarded tips and tricks on how to perform particular tasks. Give your readers a reason to come back for more - as they build their respect for your knowledge in your niche.

Summarise.

Tell people what you are going to tell them, tell them and then tell them what you have told them. This is the most effective structure for content as it will make your message less forgetable.

Ideas.

If you get stuck for ideas, read magazines, blogs and the Huffington Post. Between these, you will be bombarded with ideas that you can recycle to use for your own niche. The Huffington Post is written by the best new up and coming journalists and is a showcase of the best easy to read and interesting articles.

So by using these tips you should be able to create some very useful and engaging content for your internet marketing. The more informative and engaging your content is, the better you will do in terms of traffic.
