The Boston Leadership Institute is offering a 3-week program for Mandarin and Advanced Mandarin students. Activities include daily field trips to Boston area museums and Asian cultural attractions. Key vocabulary is covered before the event, and afterwards the activity is reviewed through discussion and by writing journal entries, all in Mandarin.
The Toronto Mandarin School has a Mandarin immersion summer camp for children aged 3 to 14. Activities begin with morning Mandarin classes, and afternoon activities include pottery, Chinese brush painting & calligraphy, story-telling, creative arts & crafts, sports, etc.
Chinese OpenCourseWare offers free, good quality textbooks and audio material on their website. This summer, they are also organizing Mandarin immersion programs in Beijing. The 10-day sessions include classroom instruction and cultural excursions, for students aged 18 and over.
The Kanata Chinese Summer Camp is run at the St. Anne School in Kanata in July and August each year. The program provides an opportunity for children to be involved in many activities, e.g., stories, crafts, chess, fun math, fun Chinese, dance, and team sports. The Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy (MMLA) is offering full immersion Chinese residency programs for middle and high school students this summer. The programs, taking place from June 26 to July 23, will offer a unique alternative to studying abroad for students interested in learning more about the Chinese language and culture in an engaging college environment.
