Tips To Keep Your Bike Safe At Work

As someone that rides their bike to work you understand the fear that goes with the thought of having it stolen.
The simple fact that bicycles are easier to steal than motor vehicles makes this an even bigger issue.
Avoiding some of the common mistakes people make when storing their bike will keep it safe.
I've outlined a few simple steps you can take to make sure you are not the victim of a bike theft or at the very least less likely to be one.
One thing you can do is talk to your supervisor at your work site to see if there is a way to keep your bike safe.
Most of us don't have a very good place to store our bikes at work.
Talk about what you can do and see if you have any options you may have overlooked.
Sometimes you may be lucky enough to have a boss that will allow you to bring your bike inside or at the least hide it out of the way somewhere.
Purchasing a secure lock will slow down any thieves or even getting two locks if you think you may need the extra security.
If you work in a high theft area it would be a really good idea.
The logic behind this is that the easier it is to steal the more likely the thief will choose it over something that is more secure.
Another thing to keep in mind, the more valuable your bicycle is the more likely it will become a target.
Most thieves will try to find high-end brand names bikes to target because they are easier to un-load.
Try to avoid showing any logos or designs that would give away the value of your bike and it might be over looked by anyone looking to steal it.
Talking to others in your area as well as the local bike shop will give you an idea of how much risk your bike is in.
A little research and you'll soon know the riskiest parts of town.
This will help you to keep your bike safer by not placing it in these risky zones.
Moving your bike form spot to spot will help by keeping your bike away from any thief that is eying up the area.
If you park it in the same space all the time any crock could soon know exactly how long it is there each day.
Breaking it up a little will keep anyone from seeing a pattern and help to keep your bike safe.
