Gold Coast Suns vs GWS Giants
Round 06
Start Time: Saturday, 26 April, 13:40
Stadium: Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast
Expect Heath Shaw to make his return for the Giants whilst Dylan Shiel, Jono O'Rourke and Andrew Phillips are all knocking on the door. Don't expect too many changes for the Suns after their win over Melbourne. Harley Bennell is yet to shake a calf complaint whilst Seb Tape will probably spend another week in the two's.
The Suns have their sights firmly set on a maiden finals debut after three wins from their first five games. They've only lost to premiership fancies Hawthorn and Fremantle and there's no shame in that. Whilst the Giants are looking to bounce back from consecutive disappointing defeats against the Bulldogs and Adelaide.
Gary Ablett took the three Brownlow votes in their final round match-up last season - kicking four goals to go along with his 33 disposals. Dion Prestia had 33 touches and seven tackles whilst for the Giants Taylor Adams (now at Collingwood) had 30 possessions.
Gary Ablett v Callan Ward: Ablett averages 30 disposals and over three goals per game against the league's youngest side. He has polled only four Brownlow votes against the Giants in four matches but that belies his impact on this contests. He's averaging 34 disposals per game this season and is deservedly rated as the best player in the game. He needs to be quelled in order for the Giants to be competitive.
