- 1). Uninstall the dock’s ladder, legs and any other attachments. Some docks have raising legs, and if this is the case simply raise the legs up.
- 2). Disconnect the anchor from the dock and tie a rope around its loose chains. Secure the other end of the rope around a tree, or to some other stable object on land so you don’t lose the end of your anchor.
- 3). Lay wooden planks along the shore, in line with the dock. The planks will prevent the dock’s floats from being damaged on rocks or rough terrain.
- 4). Attach the winch’s tow hook to the end of the dock and then use the winch remote control to lift the dock out of the water and onto the laid-out planks. Stand clear of the dock as it moves up onto the planks.
- 5). Stop the winch when the dock is in the desired position on land. Use a rope to tie the dock to a secure object on land so it doesn’t slide back into the water.
