- 1). Park your Murray tractor on a level, smooth surface. Set the parking brake and remove the ignition key. Refer to the drive belt replacement guide plate found on the accelerator floorboard to see how to properly route the replacement belt.
- 2). Grasp the attachment clutch lever to the right of the steering wheel. Pull the lever toward you to unfasten the mowing deck. Lift the mowing deck free. Grab the attachment clutch lever once more and push it away from you until the motor housing has been moved to its lowest position.
- 3). Slide beneath the Murray tractor and pull the drive belt away from the engine pulley. Grip the retainer clip securing the clutch springs to the pulley bolt and pull it free. The retainer clip is located at the center of the mowing deck. Remove both retainer springs. Pull the belt collar away from the housing and unhook the housing bracket.
- 4). Pull the old drive belt free from the grooves on the stationary idler pulley then pull the remaining portion of the belt away from the clutch idler pulley. These pulleys are located next to the engine pulley.
- 5). Install the replacement Murray drive belt in the reverse order removal. Thread the belt along the grooves of the clutch idler pulley first. Rotate it 1/2 turn by hand. Slip the remaining portion of the new drive belt around the stationary idler pulley until the drive belt is tightly in place with no slack. Realign the halves of the deck housing and refasten the retainer springs. Slide the retainer clip back in to hold the retainer springs in place. Realign the mower housing and snap it into place in front of the engine.
- 6). Grasp the attachment clutch lever and press the button on top to unlock it. Pull it toward you to set the mower deck to the desired level. Restart your Murray and test it for proper mower operation.
