- 1). Open a new file in a text editing program.
- 2). Click "Save As," and name your file. Save it in .sbt format.
- 3). Begin the file with a time code for the first caption. It will look like this:
0:00:01.380,0:00:04.250
The first number instructs the caption to begin at 0 hours, 00 minutes, 01 seconds and 380 milliseconds. The second instructs the caption to end at 0 hours, 00 minutes, 04 seconds and 250 milliseconds. - 4). Add a >> followed by the speaker's name in capital letters and the first line. For example:
0:00:01.380,0:00:04.250
>> BOB: Welcome to our video! - 5). Press the Enter key twice, then add the next line of the caption with its own time code. For example:
0:00:01.380,0:00:04.250
>> BOB: Welcome to our video!
0:00:04.250,0:00:04.580

[laugh] - 8). Save the file when you have transcribed your entire video. It can now be uploaded to YouTube, and attached to your video.
