Acidosis and Heart Disease

As we've discussed in other articles, acidosis is a systemic lowering of the pH of the naturally alkaline organs, fluids and tissues of the body.
Naturally, the stomach is acidic and at times, needs to remain so.
The predominant terrain in the body needs to be slightly alkaline, with the blood and lymph being around 7.
365 to 7.
42 pH.
Although the primary cause of acidosis in the body is dietary habits, environmental pollutants, car emissions, pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, vegetable and fruit dyes and waxes, artificial sweeteners, food additives, water pollutants, contaminated soils, tap water additives add to acidosis and toxicity in the body.
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in North America.
Studies show that most of those deaths are premature.
In other words, lifestyle changes could save lives, giving those with heart disease a better quality of life and a long life span.
The main cause of heart disease has its root in acidosis.
Just as acid rain eats into marble, acidosis irritates and inflames tissue.
The acids wear away at the cell membranes, the insides of arteries and veins and the very fabric of the heart.
This continuing process weakens the heart and the arteries and veins to the point where they could break down.
Acidosis isn't organ or location specific.
It affects all the tissues in the body as all tissues are sensitive to this corroding acid.
Just as you are sensitive to chemicals in your environment, acidosis is a condition that acts like corrosive chemicals inside your body.
The muscle cells of your heart and the tubular muscles of your arteries and veins come in direct contact with the metabolic acids in the blood stream.
Since the body's piping system helps regulate blood flow and blood pressure, it is imperative that they remain as healthy as possible.
When the blood plasma is maintained between 7.
35 and 7.
42 pH, the irritation and inflammation levels in the body are greatly reduced.
Homocysteine is an amino acid, which is one of the main measurements of inflammatory levels in the blood stream and when the blood pH drops towards acidic ranges, homosysteine rises dramatically.
Studies show that when homocysteine rises too high it is related to a much higher risk of strokes, coronary heart disease and poor circulation in the extremities.
Some studies show that as acidosis rises, the rise in homocysteine may increase the risk of atherosclerosis by damaging the inside walls of the arteries and also increase the risk of blood clots.
When wearing begins in the heart and piping system, this begins to weaken their structure to the point that microscopic lesions and small tears begin to form which worsen over time.
At the same time that the structural weakening is progressing, the negative ions that keep the body healthy are diminishing and being replace by more positive ions that are unstable.
These positively charged particles directly interfere with muscle contraction which is paramount in the heart and arteries.
Once that mechanism weakens, there are serious problems in the body.
All kinds of heart beat irregularities can develop.
The arteries can harden or become less flexible, causing aneurysms and varicose veins.
Heart attacks and strokes are now at the high risk state and the body is now in a crisis state.
A simple change to a more alkaline lifestyle can cause drastic reversals to acidosis and its related conditions.
One of the fastest ways to swing the pH to a more alkaline state is through alkaline ionized water.
Begin by drinking a few glasses per day and building up until you are drinking half your body weight in ounces every day.
You can monitor your progress by buying saliva and urine test strips from your local health food store and testing your pH first thing in the morning before you put anything in your mouth.
Another strategy is to add a greens powder to your daily regimen.
I'll admit, some of them taste like your grass clipping from the lawn but there are some nice ones that have berries or other fruit added that make it very palatable indeed.
The most important thing however is to realize that your health is in your hands.
Pills will only help you manage the symptoms and they won't get rid of the root cause.
Only you can do that by thinking about what you put in your mouth before you put it in there.
Do your body good and decide to eat in a more healthy way today.
