Heart Failure and the Causes

Heart failure is a medical condition whereby a problem with the normal function of the heart subdues its ability to sufficiently supply blood flow to fully capacity required by the body.
The condition is caused by myocardial infarction and different forms of heart disease, hypertension, valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathy.
The symptoms are shortness of breath reduced exercise capacity, coughing and ankle swelling.
The condition is common can case disability and its fatal accounting an overall annual death of ten percent.
Heart failure can be placed in different categories like, which side of the heart involved i.
e.
left versus right heart failure.
Is it due to abnormality due to low cardiac output with high systemic vascular resistance or the level of functional impairment conferred by the abnormality? However many patients can survive for many years but the condition worsens with time.
The disease is often undiagnosed as there is no universal agreement on the definition and challenges with effect to the disease diagnosis.
Heart failure can be treated through surgery, medications and less intake levels of salt.
To treat the disease is very expensive and in the United States more than $30 billion is set aside, and in the United Kingdom more than 2% of the budget is set apart to fund treatment of the disease.
Several tests can be done to help diagnose the disease i.
e.
Echocardiography mostly used to support diagnosis of heart failure, Chest X-rays, blood tests and Electrophysiology all are very crucial in aiding the disease.
