- 1). Set up the table saw to make a cut 3/8 inch away from the edge of a board by adjusting the table saw fence. Adjust the depth of the saw to make a 1/4-inch deep cut.
- 2). Run one 4 1/4-inch face of each board through the table saw. This will create a 1/8-inch-wide by 1/4-inch-deep cut that is 3/8 inch away from one outside edge that runs the length of the boards. These are the sides and bottom of the box.
- 3). Cut a 60-degree angle on both ends of each board. The angles should be cut opposing each other on the 4 1/4-inch face of the board with the 1/8-inch groove. This is the inside face of the box. The groove accommodates the plexiglass panel. The angles on the sides will allow the boards to come together to form an equilateral triangle.
- 4). Place the three boards on a work surface with the angles facing the inside to form an equilateral triangle. The 1/8-inch grooves should be on the inside and 3/8 inch down from the top edge.
- 5). Draw a triangle that measures 19 1/2 by 19 1/2 by 19 1/2 inches on the plexiglass and plywood panels. Cut the triangles out using a band saw with a fine tooth cutting blade.
- 6). Sand the wooden parts with fine-grit sandpaper. Apply a wood finish to the parts. Allow the finish to dry.
- 7). Place the plexiglass panel into the grooves of the triangular assembly. Apply glue to the edges that join together on the sides and base board. Clamp the assembly with a band clamp. Wipe off any excess glue that oozes out. Allow the glue to dry. Remove the clamp.
- 8). Lay the box with the plexiglass panel facing down. Insert the flag. Insert the plywood triangular panel over the back opening. Screw one picture frame tab into the center of the sides and base board. Turn the tabs over the plywood panel to hold it in place.
