How to Program a 2005 Honda Civic Key Entry Remote Transmitter

    • 1). Unlock the doors on your 2005 Honda Civic. Do this using the key in the door lock. Get inside of your vehicle.

    • 2). Insert the key into the ignition switch. Turn the key to the second position on the ignition labeled "II." This will turn on the accessories to your Civic but will not start the engine.

    • 3). Push the "Lock" button on your key entry remote transmitter once. Do not hold it down. After pressing it, turn the key back to the "Off" position.

    • 4). Turn the key back to the second position, press the "Lock" button on the remote transmitter, then turn the key to the "Off" position as described in Step 3. Repeat this process one more time (a total of three times) to begin the programming process.

    • 5). Turn the key to position two again. Press the "Lock" button on the key entry remote transmitter again, but this time, do not turn the key back to the "Off" position yet. The power locks on your Civic will lock and unlock as the key starts the programming process.

    • 6). Press the "Lock" button on the remote transmitter. The power locks will lock and unlock once to indicate that the remote was programmed. Push the "Lock" button on any other remotes you want to program within ten seconds to enter them into your vehicle's memory. The doors will lock and unlock with each successful program.

    • 7). When your remote(s) are programmed, turn the key to the "Off" position to finish.
