With so many others to choose from, what do you believe are some of the reasons that someone might be attracted you you? Why should they believe in you, feel that you care and would be empathetic, or that you might be either a good friend, associate, business partner, or leader? In other words, how do you differentiate yourself in a positive manner, and demonstrate that you are the type of individual, possessing the sort of personal attributes and behaviors that might make you someone that others would want to know better? Are you able and willing to focus on doing the types of things and to be the sort of person that would indeed attract others? While this is anything but a simple and one size fits all type of discussion, there are certain inherent things that, if we address them, might make us either more interesting, more compelling, or come across as more real and honorable, than the norm.
Some of thee steps include: 1.
Becoming a better listener, and focusing on listening more and giving your opinion less; 2.
Focusing on the two V's -- value and values; and 3.
Demonstrating that you are better at some aspect of doing something than others are.
1.
Although we have each been given two ears and only one mouth, few of us use that to create a mindset where we listen at least twice as often as we speak.
Realize that there is a significant difference between listening and hearing, and while most people hear, few truly and effectively listen.
While hearing is merely one of our senses (such as our sense of smell, sight, etc.
), listening requires using our common sense to emphasize being empathetic.
One can truly only demonstrate empathy when he makes the effort to put himself in someone else's place, and therefore learns what their needs, wants, hopes and aspirations are, as well as their perspectives.
Since most people would prefer to see what they feel important addressed, obviously there is a need to first effectively listen.
2.
If we focus on providing value to others and to society in general, and approach life from that positive perspective, wouldn't more people be attracted to you? If you do so where the value that you focus on is always combined with maintaining essential values such as absolute commitment, just think how much more powerful that would make each of us.
3.
Examine your strengths and weaknesses.
Use your attributes to their full potential, realizing that no one has all the answers, and include others in buying into your vision and/ or mission.
Don't deny your weaknesses but address them by discovering ways to become more impactful and better in those areas.
If you want others to believe in you, it is incumbent on you to demonstrate clearly that you are worth believing in.
How are you someone that others should listen to and care more about?
