- 1). Insert the garden fork at the edge of the daylily patch.
- 2). Dig deep and pull up as big of a root ball as possible. Many daylilies clump together. If it isn't possible to pull them up in one try, keep digging them up until you get all of them.
- 3). Fill in the area with topsoil.
- 4). Replant with native species. In the Mid-atlantic part of North America, such plants include wood lily, Canada lily or ox-eye sunflower. Consult your local department of natural resources as well as local garden stores and nurseries to find out which plants are native to your biome.
- 5). Thoroughly water your new plants.
