How to Make Canvas Boards

1). Using the ruler and pencil, starting in a corner, mark and outline a 12-inch-by-24-inch rectangle on the Masonite board.
2). Using the utility knife and the ruler, score along the penciled lines until the board is cut through.
3). Sand the front of the board until smooth and use the tack cloth to wipe the board clean.
4). Cut the canvas so that it is 1 inch larger on each side than the board. The canvas for this project should be cut into a 14-inch-by-26-inch rectangle.
5). Put newspaper down to protect your work service and lay the canvas flat on the service.
6). Using the foam brush, apply the glue along the canvas, leaving a 1-inch border on each side.
7). Center the Masonite board over the canvas and press it firmly into the glue.
8). Turn the board over, wrap excess canvas around the board and glue it to the back of the board.
9). Turn the covered board right-side-up. Cover the board with a piece of wrapping paper to protect it and weight it down with heavy books to keep it from warping as the glue dries. You should allow it to dry overnight.
