- 1). Remove any towels or washcloths still on the towel bar and set them aside.
- 2). Locate the hidden screws that are under each end cap for the towel rack. Remove the screws with the Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 3). Lift the towel rack up and off the wall-mounted brackets. Set the towel bar aside.
- 4). Remove the mounting screw on one of the wall-mounted brackets with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Loosen the screw by turning it counterclockwise. Repeat this step for the other wall-mounted bracket.
- 5). Pull out the plastic anchors, if used with the wall-mounted brackets, with the needle-nose pliers. Grab the end of the plastic anchor and then pull it out of the wall.
- 6). Patch the holes left by the mounting screws or plastic anchors using spackling compound and a putty knife.
