Ideas for Chocolate Cakes and Brownie Recipes

Chocolate cakes and brownies are two of the most popular homemade desserts. Chocolate cake recipes and brownie recipes can be easily tweaked to include your favorite flavors and ingredients. You can serve cakes with whipped cream and fresh fruits for a delicious dessert while brownies are best served warm with a dollop of ice cream.

Chocolate Cake Recipes

Chocolate cakes can be baked in numerous ways and a simple tweaking of one or two ingredients will help you come up with new chocolate cake recipes easily. You can either use melted chocolate or cocoa powder depending on the richness of the cake.

For a decadent chocolate cake, combine two cups of all-purpose flour, two cups of white sugar, three-fourth cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, two teaspoons of baking soda, a teaspoon of baking powder, half a teaspoon of salt and mix well. Brew a cup of coffee and let it cool completely. The rich coffee brings out and deepens the flavor of the chocolate. The wet ingredients should be added to the dry ingredients gradually. Form a well in the middle of the dry mixture and add two eggs, a cup of milk, the coffee, half-a-cup of flavorless oil and half a teaspoon of vinegar. Whisk till smooth and set aside. This cake batter is thinner in consistency than others and this makes it more moist and airy. Pour the batter into a greased and floured pan and bake in a preheated oven till done. Cool before serving for a delicious treat.

Brownie Recipes

Tweak the regular brownie recipes to whip up new and unique brownies. A simple addition of a fruit preserve or jam of your choice can make your regular brownie your new favorite treat. Berry preserve such as strawberry or raspberry goes well with chocolate.

To make the brownies, melt together eight teaspoons of unsalted butter and four ounces of roughly chopped unsweetened chocolate and set aside to cool. For the batter, whisk together three eggs, one and a half cups of sugar, a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir in the chocolate mixture till smooth. Gradually add three-fourth cup of flour and mix well. Pour the batter into a buttered baking tin and add dollops of raspberry jam or preserve and gently mix with a spoon or knife for a marbled effect. Bake in a preheated oven for about thirty minutes and let it cool on a wire rack. Cut the brownie into squares and serve.
