- 1). Paint the walls with a color characteristic of the Victorian age, like burnt orange or marigold. Various shades of green (sage or sea foam green) will also work.
- 2). Place a sisal or Persian rug in the center of the living room for a traditional look.
- 3). Incorporate a sofa with traditional upholstery and a wing or Queen Anne-style chair to create a Victorian look. Make sure your coffee and end tables are dark cherry wood or mahogany.
- 4). Look for traditional picture frames and prints and pick lamps with traditional shades. If you would like to keep the lamps you already have, replace the shade with a Victorian one.
- 5). Decorate your living room with some house plants for a real Bohemian style. Bohemian means "good home," and it involves creating harmony with the earth and all life forms.
- 6). Accessorize the coffee and end tables with antique books, figurines, a tray, a decanter set and other vintage items.
- 7). Make pillows out of tapestry to match the sofa and chair. Place a bouquet of roses or carnations in a vintage vase.
