Mid Michigan Community College

• Mid Michigan Community College offers an accredited, one-year certificate program in phlebotomy. The program consists of 51 hours of classroom training in anatomy and 30 hours of hands-on training in drawing blood samples. Toward the end of the program students are required to complete 120 hours of clinical practicum through a local hospital. Students will have the ability to practice their skills by drawing blood from the inpatient, geriatric and pediatric populations of the hospital.

Wake Technical Community College

• Wake Technical Community College offers an accredited, 16-week phlebotomy program. The first eight weeks include classroom training in phlebotomy and psychology. The last eight weeks consist of a clinical practicum that is assigned and supervised by the course instructor. Some clinical sites include Duke University Medical Center, Durham Regional Medical Center and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Austin Community College

• Austin Community College offers an accredited, two-semester course to become a phlebotomy technician. The first semester involves classroom and lab instruction where students study such topics as infection control, capillary skin punctures, urinalysis, fecal occult blood testing and pregnancy testing. The second semester is 120 hours of clinical practicum through a site assigned by the course instructor. Financial aid is available in the form of scholarships.

Bismarck State College

• Bismarck State College offers an accredited, one-year certificate program to become a phlebotomy technician. The college accepts only five students into the program each fall semester. The admission process is competitive, so submitting an application early is advised. Once accepted, students are required to complete a four-week clinical rotation either at Q&R Clinic, Medcenter One Health Systems, Mid-Dakota Clinic or St. Alexius Medical Center.

• Community College of Philadelphia offers a certificate program in phlebotomy. The one-semester course consists of two hours of lecture, three hours of student lab and eight hours of clinical rotation per week for 12 weeks.
