- 1). Turn off the power to the switch you are replacing. Disconnect the circuit by turning off the breaker that powers the area you are working in.
- 2). Remove the screws that hold the switch cover plate to the wall. There are two screws to remove, one at the top and one at the bottom. Expose the switch and the wiring.
- 3). Disconnect the switch from the power-supply wires. Remove the two screws from the top and the bottom of the switch to release it from the electrical box. Pull the switch from the box, loosen the two screws on the side of the switch and remove the wires from beneath them.
- 4). Connect the lighted rocker switch. Place the two wires you removed from the old switch onto the new switch. There are two screws on the right side of the switch. Place one black wire under one of the screws and place the other black wire under the remaining screw. Tighten both the screws to hold the wires securely to the switch.
- 5). Install the lighted rocker switch into the electrical box. Push the wires into the electrical box and install the switch into the box by the two screws at the top and the bottom of the switch.
- 6). Replace the switch cover plate onto the wall. Two screws hold the cover plate, one at the top and one at the bottom.
- 7). Turn on the breaker to supply power to the new lighted rocker switch.
