If your marriage is facing the nasty effects of infidelity right now, you are not someone to be envied.
Adultery is one of the worst things that can happen to any marriage except of course you are involved in a so called "open minded" union where you and your spouse have agreed to sleep with other people.
But if you are reading this right now then I doubt that that is the case.
You are here because you or your spouse has gone outside the confines of your marital bed to dip into another honey pot.
While the reaction of the injured partner is to ditch the marriage and bail, this is not necessarily indicative of the fact that he / she is not still in love with you or that there is no chance in hell that he or she would give your marriage another chance.
Whether or not you are the guilty partner you need to know that you can still save your marriage in spite of that affair - your marriage still has a chance! Read the rest of this article to find out how you can save your marriage after an affair.
Let's get to it shall we...
? Number 1 - Time for Confession I do not mean this to come across as instructions to pay a visit to your Reverend Father.
On the contrary you need to let your spouse know exactly what transpired between you and the other woman or man as the case may be.
If you are the aggrieved partner or spouse, then you need to decide at this point how much information you want to hear.
I, for one, am very visually minded and my imagination can run amok often times so, in my case, I would prefer that my spouse reveals everything that happened so that I would not need to start imagining the worst.
If you need help understanding how bad this can be, just go to a DVD rental shop and ask for Tom Cruise' and Nicole Kidman's movie titled "Eyes Wide Shut" to get a glimpse of what a vivid imagination can do or cause.
Number 2 - Time for Grieving If you are the erring spouse, you may feel that your husband or wife does not need to take too much time to grieve but listen carefully; your spouse NEEDS time out to clear his / her head and to allow grief consume him or her - without you being there.
If, on the other hand, you are the grieving spouse, ensure that you take time to work through those nasty emotions which you are feeling right now.
Do not try to be all macho and tough about it - you need to allow yourself grieve.
But please do not take all the time in the world if you really want to save your marriage.
In your grieving still be compassionate towards your spouse in spite of the hurt you are feeling; after all he or she is really beating themselves up over the affair already.
