Great Tips on Loving Your Lovable Cocker Spaniel

Cocker Spaniels used to be hunting dogs in the United Kingdom and in the United States when they were brought there.
However, they are now considered more of pets in the home since they look very beautiful.
There are two breeds of Cocker Spaniels- the English and the American and although these two have some differences like their size and physical shape, taking care of this delightfully gentle creature is pretty much the same.
This breed of dog is very likable, with a beautiful face and round or oval eyes giving them a charming stare.
Often, they have brown to hazel -colored eyes but you can find some with startling blue ones as well, often with a Merle Cocker Spaniel.
Their ears are long and it droops to the head.
This dog's fur coat is often long, wavy and always smooth and silky.
You can get this breed coated in solid black or golden tan or a mixture of both or is parti-colored.
It is a medium sized dog and can grow to about 30 pounds with furs on almost all parts of its body.
Firstly, these dogs are loving and extremely gentle so they are perfect even for families with young kids in tow.
One Cocker Spaniel tip is if you're expecting an infant, let the dog sniff around even if he or she probably is aware already.
Even so, try not to leave your baby or toddlers with your Cocker Spaniel- or any dog for that matter.
Since this type of dog has a lengthy lifespan (12 to 15 years), it will need good nutrition.
This breed is known as 'happy' dogs so keep them like that with plenty of clean water and nourishing food.
Another dog tip is to feed them with not just manufactured dog food but with real meat, fruits and vegetables.
This dog have an attractive mane but it can grow overlong.
The next Cocker Spaniel tip is to have them snipped every six to eight weeks and brushed regularly.
Grooming also includes trimming their nails, cleaning their ears, brushing their teeth or even expressing their anal glands.
Although there are professional services for pet grooming, it is expensive.
Learn to do this on your own, consequently having more time with your pet.
As mentioned, this dog ancestors were hunters so they will need attention and exercise.
If you don't have a huge lawn in your house then let them loose around the park or anywhere with a huge field, making sure it is safe.
Give them around twenty minutes of energetic play but make sure you rehydrate them immediately.
Finally, Visit the veterinarian often.
There are standard vaccinations for all dogs like anti-rabies or for Leptospirosis virus as well as blood tests to keep your pet safe and healthy.
This dog tip is of import since they, in particular, are prone to eye and ear infections so it is best to have them checked up often to prevent these.
It is true that this breed needs less food and energy to manage.
Just remember these dog tips and that although Cocker Spaniels are smaller and cuter than other popular breeds like Golden Retrievers or Labradors, they will need the same amount of attention and love.
