- 1). Rotate equipment around the floor once a week. Rotating equipment -- especially heavy objects such as dog walks and A-frames -- prevents the flooring underneath the equipment from breaking down.
- 2). Clean up urine and fecal accidents as soon as they happen. Pick up solids and dispose of them in the garbage, and blot up liquids with paper towels.
- 3). Sweep the flooring daily if you have solid floor mats. Even small rocks and sticks can puncture floor mats, so removing them before anyone steps on them helps prolong the life of your flooring.
- 4). Pour 1 oz. of mild soap into a gallon-sized bucket with warm water; use the mixture to mop floor mats weekly. Wring the mop out thoroughly between sections. Working in small sections, mop the floor to remove dirt, mud and hair. Allow the mats to air-dry before use.
- 5). Hose down flooring once a week if you have artificial grass flooring. Artificial grass requires regular cleaning. Fit your hose with a pressure nozzle, and spray away waste and debris.
