- 1). Remove the cabinet door from the cabinet base by removing the hinges. Unscrew the hinges from the door as well as the knob or pull so that the door lays flat when you are working on it. Save the hardware so you can reinstall it later.
- 2). Remove the panel from the cabinet door. The method of removal depends on the way the door is made, but usually the panel is sandwiched into the frame and glued in place. If this is the case, use a utility knife to cut away the glue. You may have to cut away the wooden lip from the back that holds the panel in place. Make a straight cut using a straight edge, taking care not to damage the framework.
- 3). Measure the width and height of the opening for the glass pane, and order the number of panels you need for your cabinets from a local hardware store. Round the measurement down to the nearest 1/8-inch. Measure each door separately, and list the width and then the height when ordering. Request 1/8-inch thick glass.
- 4). Set the glass into the opening on the back of the cabinet door to make sure it fits. Remove it, and squeeze a thin bead of clear silicon around the edge of the opening. Set the glass in place, pressing lightly and centering it in the opening.
- 5). Attach the glass retainer clips to the frame of the door, screwing them in place with the drill. Place two at the bottom and at least two on either side, with one at the center top.
- 6). Attach the hardware back on the cabinet door, and attach the hinges to the cabinet base. Close the door, and enjoy the clear view into your cabinet.
