April 14, 2010 - The cast of the comedy film Butter has just grown by two. The Weinstein Company revealed Hugh Jackman and Alicia Silverstone have signed on to the film which is set to begin shooting later this month. Jackman and Silverstone are joining Jennifer Garner and Ashley Greene (from the Twilight films) who've already committed to the project. Garner's pulling double duty, producing as well as starring in the indie film.
According to The Weinstein Company's official press release, Butter "is a comedy set in the Midwest U.S., where an adopted girl discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman (Garner) in their town's annual contest."
Jason Micallef wrote the script and Jim Fields Smith is directing.
Jackman (aka People's Sexiest Man Alive 2008) recently wrapped work on Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for director Wayne Wang and has Unbound Captives, Selma, and Real Steel on his plate.
Silverstone's currently working with her Clueless director, Amy Heckerling, on the romantic comedy/vampire film Vamps.
