- 1). Place an old hockey puck on a plain sheet of paper.
- 2). Trace around the puck on the paper using a pencil. This will give you an accurate idea of the dimension of a hockey puck and what kind of design would suit its dimensions.
- 3). Draw several designs. Hockey pucks often have team emblems on them, but try several designs to find one that suits you.
- 4). Use photo editing software to create designs, if you don't want to draw your design by hand. You can use the software to experiment with shapes, colors and images.
- 5). Send a copy of your design to a professional puck printer. You can print several copies of your customized puck using one of these services. If you don't want to spend the money, or you are just designing a puck for fun, then try painting one yourself.
- 6). Apply a coat of primer to the surface of your hockey puck. This will make the surface easier to paint on and make your design stand out. Once you have applied a coat of primer to one side, carefully recreate your design using acrylic paint.
