- 1). Select the mode you want to use on the remote control. Choices may include "cool," "heat" and "fan" or "normal fan," and "cool," "heat" or "dehumidifier" for units with added features.
- 2). Select the speed you want to use for the fan and press the corresponding button on the remote. "Auto," "High" and "Low" are common choices.
- 3). Press the "Flap" button to adjust the angle of the air supply to control the vertical flow of air from the unit. Adjust the fins manually to direct the airflow up and down.
- 4). Select the "Sleep" mode on your remote control before you go to bed to modify the flow of air when you're sleeping and save energy.
- 5). Remove the grill on the unit and clean the filter with a vacuum or lukewarm water and soap every week to keep the air clean.
