- 1). Connect an external device, such as a gaming console or additional computer, to your main computer's wired network with an Ethernet cable. If you want to stream through a wireless external device, go to "Start," open the "Control Panel" and add your device your computer's wireless network in the "Network and Sharing" section.
- 2). Go to "Start," click "All Programs" and open Windows Media Player.
- 3). Click on the "Library" tab and select "More Options." Next, click the "Configure Sharing" button. Select your external device from the list of options. Click the "Allow" button.
- 4). Click the "Library" tab and select the "Media Sharing" option. Check the boxes next to the "Find media that others are sharing" and "Share my media to" options. Next, click "OK." You should be able to view and stream your music, photos and videos on your external device. If you're using a gaming device, your computer's name will appear in your "Settings" pane. Click on your computer's name to locate your streamed files. If you're streaming to another computer, open Windows Media Player on the secondary computer and repeat Step 3 and Step 4.

- 4). Click the "Stream" tab and select the "Automatically allow devices to play my media" option. Go back to the "Stream" tab and click on "More streaming options." Next, click on the "Show devices on" drop-down menu and switch the option from "Local network" to "Allowed." Click the "OK" button. Your computer is now set up to stream music, videos and pictures to your external device. If you're streaming to a gaming console, you will need to locate the streamed files in your "Settings" section.
