Several weeks ago, I was on my way to Colorado to present a workshop in Denver.
I was standing in line at the airport waiting to go through the security scan.
The line zigzagged back and forth for 8 rows deep and I was right in the middle.
Being empathic, I could feel the tension and anxiety from the other travelers.
It felt like constriction or a knot in my upper abdomen and chest.
It was very uncomfortable.
Many of you whether you recognize you're empathic or not, have likely picked up on other people's energy.
You've walked into a room feeling the tension in the air or have felt uncomfortable near a stranger.
If you're not aware of your own energy, then you might have confused their energy as your own.
Either way, what do you do to protect yourself from it? How do you feel better? Most people react by pulling back their energy in fear and focusing more on the uncomfortable feelings.
This only makes you feel worse.
By pulling back your energy, you've made your personal energetic space really small.
By focusing more on the uncomfortable feelings and the idea of needing to protect yourself from them, you're actually making that energy really big.
There's no escape.
What you focus on expands.
Here's what I did instead.
It wasn't necessary to protect myself by putting up some kind of shield.
In fact, I didn't think about protecting myself at all.
Instead I just raised my vibration so that I was no longer a match to the lower fear-based vibes.
As a result, I was able to enjoy my space yet be among others who were clearly more stressed out.

- Once I became aware of the uncomfortable feelings, I took my attention off of everyone else and focused on me.
- I chose to breathe deeply and calmly from my lower abdomen.
- I visualized a ball of light in my heart.
I connected to the feeling of love.
I saw the ball expand and as it did the feeling of love and calm spread. - Soon the tension in me was melting away.
I could feel more calm and relaxed. - I saw this ball of light expand beyond me and spread out to others in the line.
I didn't try to change or heal them.
I just put out the intention that the light would support those who needed it most. - Lastly, I put out the intention that this energy would continue to flow without my conscious thought.
