FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS
Deidra writes: “I just had to write and say that I am loving the Cristian character and the Cris and Evangeline relationship. This week I found them quite refreshing. Of all the characters, I wanted to see more of them. I really enjoyed all of their scenes this week from the argument to Vincent and the fire to Cristian taking Vincent down. I have to applaud him on that. I am so tired of characters on this show disrespecting woman and putting degrading sexual remarks on them.
I did not like the remark about her sleeping with Cristian and the thing he did with his lower body. Cristian earned some real brownie points from me.”
Dear Deidra: I have to agree that Vincent is definitely a lowlife. I also thought his remark at the police station about Cristian’s brother being a cop and his girlfriend being the Assistant D.A. who just happens to be sleeping with him was disgusting. What I couldn’t understand is why it didn’t bother Evangeline more. I don’t blame her for telling Cristian that it wasn’t too smart to hit Vincent because it was just giving him more ammunition against him, but then when Cris told her he was mad at what Vincent said about her she said, “Well, it is true. I am sleeping with you, a lot.” I thought it was strange for Evangeline not to take offense. Maybe she was just thinking of Cris getting into more trouble and didn’t want to buy into Vincent’s game. At any rate, these are the kinds of situations that make me a little uncomfortable about Cristian and Evangeline.
They look at most things very differently and many times Cris apologizes, they make love and all is forgotten. That’s how Evangeline and John used to be and it didn’t work for very long.
Debra writes: “If Christian is so broke and struggling to pay medical bills etc., why doesn't he GET A JOB? His brother, Antonio, needs help at Capricorn and has to hire Nash of all people. His poor old Mother, Carlotta, runs the diner all by herself without help from either one of her sons. Christian could at least take time out from whatever he does all day long to spend a few hours helping his family, even if it's not his idea of a respectable career. Please explain why the writers keep this unlikable and worthless character in the spotlight when nothing he does makes any sense. He's cute and has biceps, but so do all the boys of Llanview.”
Dear Debra: I can’t say that I disagree with you. I feel the same way about Cristian. If you remember, the other day Evangeline was talking to him about his photography and he made some kind of comment about not wanting to do that kind of work and Evangeline so wisely said to him, “Cris, it’s WORK!” He does need to quit whining and get a job. He’s probably never going to be able to paint again the way he used to and Lindsay already told him that if he really got into the photography and was good, she’d give him a show at her gallery; so he should shoot for that and get something that really pays the bills in the meantime. I don’t really see Cristian as unlikable and worthless, but I do feel that watching a man like him brooding all the time is getting very tired, very quickly.
Sheri writes: “Okay, enough is enough. Why is Nash the only one who can solve Antonio's dilemma with running Capricorn? Why didn't Antonio offer Christian the job of running his club? Wow! Now there's an idea. Christian is broke and needs a job while he explores the artistic side of himself again. Couldn't he manage Capricorn as easily as Nash can run the vineyard and club as well? What is up with these writers? Don't answer that!”
Dear Sheri: I guess lots of people are tired of Cristian these days and some love him to death. There doesn’t seem to be an in-between. Obviously the writers want to create enough conflict in the Antonio/Jessica/Nash triangle to bring it to a head and by putting Nash right in Jessica’s face all the time they are accomplishing that. Of course it didn’t make sense for Antonio not to offer Cris a job, but he probably figures Cris wouldn’t take it and would see it as charity. I say, who cares? Antonio is now a bazillionaire thanks to Tico’s money and if Nash can accept expensive gifts from Antonio like having his vineyard built (not to mention Antonio buying out Vincent’s part of the vineyard), the Cristian should let his brother help him out. It wouldn’t kill him.
