- 1). Measure and mark the cut-line on the brick with a permanent marker.
- 2). Put on gloves, a dust mask and safety glasses to ensure your safety while cutting. A dust mask isn't necessary if you are using a wet saw. Remove bracelets, watches and other jewelry and do not wear baggy sleeves, as these things can get caught in the blade.
- 3). Place the wet saw on a solid surface. It is best to cut bricks outside--dry- as well as wet-cutting bricks can be messy. Place the saw in the water pan if you are wet-cutting. Fill the pan with water.
- 4). Place the brick on the sliding brick tray and pull down the blade to align it with the cut line. A rip fence can also be used for guiding the brick and creating perfectly straight cuts.
- 5). Turn on the saw. If you are wet-cutting, make sure that water is being adequately pumped from the tray to the blade.
- 6). Bring the blade down to the brick. Do not force pressure. Hold the brick firmly on either side of the brick, making sure that all fingers are a safe distance from the blade. Push the brick slowly forward and back while the saw cuts through.
