- 1). Click the "Start" button and choose "All Programs," then "Accessories," and finally "WordPad" to launch the Microsoft WordPad application.
- 2). Click the blue "WordPad" button in the upper left and choose "Open" to open a standard file dialog box. Navigate to the text file that you need and double-click the file to load it into the application.
- 3). Select the area of text you want to change. Position the cursor at the beginning of the word or sentence, press the left mouse button and drag the cursor to the end of the word or sentence. To select an entire word, double-click on it. You can also triple-click within a paragraph to select it. Press the "Control" key and the "A" key together to select all the text in a document.
- 4). Change the font size by going to the font size menu on the "Home" tab. Either position your cursor in the box and type in the font size you want, or click the drop-down box to reveal a menu of font sizes. Alternately, you can click on the "Grow Font" and "Shrink Font" icons to the right of the font size box to increase or decrease your font size.
- 5). Click the blue "WordPad" button and choose "Save As." You can pick any file format except "Plain Text" if you want to save your file with the text sizes intact. Plain text does not preserve any font changes. For example, choose "Rich Text Format" to save the file in a format usable by most word processors. A standard file dialog will appear.
- 6). Navigate to where you want to store your file. Enter a new name if necessary and then click "Save" to save the file.
