- 1). Rake the lawn to remove leaves, twigs and other debris that has accumulated. If it's been a while since you last aerated your lawn, aerate the lawn after raking.
- 2). Mow tall grass before applying the Scotts Turf Builder.
- 3). Apply the Scotts Turf Builder to the lawn using a spreader. A push-cart spreader is the easiest and most efficient way to apply the Scotts Turf Builder, but you can also use a handheld spreader. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for rate of application as it differs based on the spreading method used. Be careful not to over-fertilize any area of the lawn.
- 4). Water the lawn immediately after you apply the Scotts Turf Builder if the temperature is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
- 5). Sweep sidewalks, driveways and decks to remove any Scotts Turf Builder that scattered onto them. Scotts Turf Builder can stain the surface. Pets can immediately walk on treated grass, but you may want to water the lawn to prevent them from tracking in fertilizer on their feet.
