- Use care when you unpack your radio. It's a good idea to save the packing materials in case you need to move the radio to another location. If you notice damage of any kind, don't try to use the radio. Instead, call the customer service number that's printed on the inside back cover.
Choose a flat surface for the radio, but don't set it on metal, since that can cause problems with the set receiving AM signals. Avoid damp areas where moisture might get inside the radio. Avoid surfaces that are sensitive to heat. Don't set the radio on top of your television, since it might affect the quality of the picture. For optimum bass sound, place the radio within two feet of a wall. If possible, choose a location on the opposite side of the room from where you'll listen. Experiment with different locations until you're satisfied with the sound. - Your Bose radio uses a standard nine-volt battery that serves as a backup for the memory and alarm when it's unplugged or when the power is off. It will power these functions for up to three days. Using the radio without the battery won't damage it, but the memory won't be backed up. The battery does not provide enough power for normal operation, including the lighted display.
To install a battery, turn the radio over. Push on the arrow on the battery chamber cover and move it aside. Match the terminals on the battery with their opposites inside the chamber, and push the battery securely into place. Close the cover and return the radio to an upright position.
Connect the power cord to the jack on the back of the radio. The flat side of the connector must line up with the flat side of the jack. Since the power cord contains the FM antenna, uncoil the cord for the best reception. Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
An FM cable connector is on the back of the radio. Contact your cable company for help in setting up your connection. When you set it up, be sure to use a splitter that separates the FM signal from the TV signal so that the TV signal won't be transmitted to your radio.
If your remote is slotted on the back, press the tip of a pen into the opening and push the battery chamber cover to the side. If there's no slot, push the tab to one side with your finger and open the chamber cover. Use only a lithium battery size CR 2032 or DL 2032. Place the battery into the chamber with the plus sign face-up. Push the chamber cover closed and it will lock.
Peel the backing from the mounting strips. Place one piece on the back of the remote and the other piece in the spot where you'll hang the remote. - Your radio has jacks for additional speakers, labeled "Variable Out." Use audio cables to connect your speakers to the jacks. Match the colors on the cables to the colors on the jacks.
You can connect other equipment such as a CD player, VCR or television using the "Aux In" jacks on the radio. Whenever there are fixed or variable outputs, use the fixed outputs in order to control the volume from the radio.
