- 1). Turn off the breaker for the pump on the main circuit panel or sub-panel, if one is installed for the pool.
- 2). Find and remove the drain plugs on the pump. This will allow any water to drain out of the pump.
- 3). Find and remove the bolts that are used to secure the main body of the pump to the sub-assembly on the rear of the pump. Determine what size wrench is needed to remove the bolts.
- 4). Pull on each part of the pump to separate them in order to access the sub-assembly on the rear of the pump.
- 5). Find and remove the diffuser from the rear sub-assembly to access the impeller.
- 6). Hold onto the impeller with one hand and then remove the lock screw. Loosen and remove the lock screw with the Phillips head screwdriver by turning it clockwise.
- 7). Find and remove the shaft cap that is located on the back of the motor. Use the flat head screwdriver to hold the shaft secure.
- 8). Turn the impeller counterclockwise to unscrew it from the shaft.
