- 1). Download the "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" software. Select your operating system version and other information from the drop-down menus. Double-click the file to begin installation.
- 2). Click the acceptance box beside the user agreement. Click "Next" to install the software. Restart your computer if prompted to do so by the installation program.
- 3). Plug your Xbox 360 controller into an available USB port on your computer.
- 4). Click "Start." Type "joy.cpl" into the "Search for programs and files" box and press "Enter." If you are using Windows XP click "Start," then click "Run," type in "joy.cpl" and click "OK."
- 5). Click "Xbox 360 Controller" in the dialog box. Click "Properties." Press various buttons on your controller to make certain it works. Click "OK."
