In early times, Georgetown thrived primarily on agriculture, but as soon as urban expansion accelerated in the city of Austin, Georgetown also began to expand massively.

One of the best places to stay in shape is is at the Georgetown Recreational Center, located at 1003 North Austin Avenue.
Membership to the recreation center includes features such as computer labs, aerobics studios, indoor walking tracks, full-service locker rooms, study rooms, and an indoor pool.

San Gabriel Park is one of them.
Situated in downtown Georgetown, the park is home to the San Gabriel River, which runs through the middle of this park and is considered one of the most beautiful areas in the city.
For those who want to work out, there are both 1 mile and 3-mile-long trails for hiking and biking.
There also are shorter walking tracks for families to enjoy.
  Apart from the San Gabriel Park, there is another park situated just below the South San Gabriel River Bridge that is great for swimming.
Thee park consists of two small dams full of waterfalls and beautiful pools, making it a perfect place to raft or float.
