5 Inexpensive and Fun Holiday Activities

This Christmas parents are looking for great activities to do with their families.
At the same time they don't want to spend too much money.
This might seem a difficult goal to achieve; however there are several low cost and free events and activities that a family can do that will allow them to enjoy what the Holiday season has to offer without straining their income.
Here are some great suggestions to help your family enjoy the holiday season.
Try reading holiday books together.
Reading to kids is always a great idea; however many families don't have as much time during the rest of the year to do so.
This is why doing so during Christmas is a great idea.
It is one of the few times during the year where the entire family can be together.
Try reading fun holiday books that will be sure to stir the imaginations of your children.
A great selection to read is Frank L.
Baum's The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.
This book is a great read and since it is by the author who wrote the Wizard of Oz series you can be sure it is something fun and wholesome that can be enjoyed by everyone.
Take your family to Holiday events in your area.
You may not know it, but there are many Christmas events in your town that your family can go to and enjoy for free.
If you want to know where and when they are happening there are many great sources of information you can rely on.
First is your local newspaper.
It should have a list of events in the community section of your newspaper.
You can also check out the community channel on your TV.
Some places to get detailed information are your local library or community center.
These locations should have events planned.
You will find your family enjoying things like free snacks, parades, and even light shows.
All it takes is a willingness to leave the house and explore your town or city.
Make holiday crafts and treats.
This is a money saving activity that allows your family to have fun and cut costs on holiday decorations at the same time.
You can find instructions in books from your local library or online for inexpensive decorations and treats that you and your kids can easily do.
Try to find more challenging projects if you have older children.
If you are going to need to buy materials make sure to make a shopping list and budget so that you know that you will be spending less making decorations and treats rather than buying them.
You can also have a holiday movie marathon.
Check out or rent holiday movies to watch with your family throughout the holidays.
You can also watch them on TV.
Channels like ABC Family have special like 25 Days of Christmas where they show holiday movies all throughout December.
You can also pick holiday favorites and newer movies that have come out recently.
If there is a holiday movie that everyone wants to see in theaters this Christmas, put aside some money to do so ahead of time.
Finally you can have a special event for your younger kids by having them receive a special call from Santa.
Make sure that the caller knows what they wanted for Christmas and a few pieces of personal trivia about each child.
